but only for a very brief period, over å report that Leonardo da Vinci's muter piece, La Gioconda, which was stolen fron he Louvre a year ago, and icet found. The supposed Gioconda was brought to Paris by an Englishur, 31r Harold Itailbone, a designer employed at a Birkenhead porcelain factory, He bought the picture at auction and having made a pecin study, he says, of Leonardo da Vinci's work, came to the conclusion that his find was the original. He accordingly brought it Paris and, through the Embassy, got in touch with the French authorities.
Two experts were sent to exaining, painting and they were not long in pronouncing it to be a copy, executed probably 10 years ago. They pointed out that the cracks in Mr Rathbone's picture differed from those in the real Gioconds
