A mysterious cheque robbery is puzzling the police of New York and of Albany, 150 miles worth. On July 13 A senger knowIT AS Joe," a lad of fifteen, was sent from the New York offices of the United Cigar Stores Cm- pany, with
satchel containing, over £100,000 in cheques and cash (the cheques ranging from 200 to £600), which he was instructed to deposit in a lank "dowa town." The boy has not since been heard of. but en Saturday afternoon an Albany blacksmith found the satchel containing the cheques in front of his shop. Of the money, however, there was no trace.
