LAWLESSNESS IN CANTON.
For some for days there has been a elight diminution in the number of rubberies and private outrages perpetrated in the streets of Canton. People began to hope that things were mending, but this was evidently a lall before the storm for now things are worse than they wore before. Persons are apparently seized in quiet places, robbed of most of their clothes, and are left comparatively, naked. Well dressed men are unwilling to walk through some of the streets during certain hours. Moreover, they do not dare to go out wearing good clothes fis collect moneye due to them; they send instead their em ployees, dressed as coolier, in the hupe that being poory-clad they will be unsuspected and therefore pass unmolested,
