Nervous Breakdown, Paralysis-
The master force which conquered the most perilous affictions and enabled him to endure amazing hardships, says Captain Henderson, ir derived entirely from Phesterine. Exposed by his adventurous life to an extraordinary series of misfortunes, from being disabled in action, to substroke, enteric fever, and paralysis of the legs, this gallant officer was yet able, entirely owing to the aid of Phosferine, to leave the hospital and fight through to the end of the Boer War Under blows which mako men teel and fall, Captain Henderson was so upheld by the vitalising and braqug qualities of Phosferine, that actually on his return home be "was robust and vigorous enough to win four military prizes in' one day,
including the famous Victoria Cross Cup Í
Cured with Signal. Success.
Captain D. E. Henderson, 'r, Marino Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin, writes:→→→→ "During the late Boer War, I had a severe shock from lightning, and an injury to the spine through my horse being killed in action and rolling on top of me. In India, soine years previously, I had an attack of sun- stroke, and was five months in bospital with Enteric Fever. These troubles told upon me, and ultimately resulted in a complete nervous breakdown when in Pretoria. I was admitted to hospital when I had löst the use of my legs. I was treated for neuritis and seat out only partly cured, and then started taking Phosferine systematically and regularly. The benefit I received was marvellous; in two months time I was back in the field and fought right through until the end of the war. Owing to a great financial loss, which preyed on my mind, I had a second break- down, and the do-tor told me that I would probably be paralysed for life. I thought again of Phosferine, and after using it about three weeks my strengib gradually returped and the frightful depression and weakness left me. The proof of which is that, in the military sports, I won four prizu in one day, including the Victoria Cross cup."-July 14, 1911..

far back'se the your 18.3.0 wise and learned astronomers gave scientific ronsona why every fourth year should contain 360 -days instead of the regulation 565 - and, because the fourth year was three minutes long-r than, the astronomical Fant, they further demonstrated that some yearn divis sible by four, and hence to the ordinary mind leap years were not leap years at all Thus 1700, 1800, 1000 were pht leap year but, to all whom it may interest, tha year 2000 will be reckonod sa anca.
But though there is a necessity, fom the scientific point of view, of one year containing more days than another, there is no positive record of the origin of that, deleita privilege which tradition says is the right of women in leap year. Myth escribes its indeption to-Sr. Patrisk. . It is enid that while walking by the shores of Lough Neagh the avint was nooosted by St. Bridget, who tesfully told him that there was trouble among the nuns over whom she ruled owing to the fact that a woman might not propose to a man. It may be remarked that, in the days of St. Bridget, calibury was not enforced na an-absolato rule for the clergy, though advocated by the Church as the proper modo of life for a religious,

Embeldooed by hor success, Bridget straightway proposed to the mint himself, but being under a strict row of celibnoy he felt obliged to refuse, smooth- ing over the awkward situation thas creat- with a kiss and the present of a silk dress. Until a century ago it was a recognised law of leap year that in the event of a man declining a proposal of marriage he should help to alleviate the natural disappoint meat caused by his answer by giving a silk decas 10 his unsuccessful admirer.
