Mr Dunwoody, secretary of the Water | Supply Committee, slates that the general result of the investigations is that the river purtions of the routes formed-bytle River Trent, Severn, Wenver, and Star could be nude capable of passing much larger craft than at present without experiencing any difficulty with respect to water supply, but the canal portions of the routes, which inverse the central districts of England at considerable altitudes, have limited water supplies, which would requires to be greatly angmented for any schelves of improvement to the standards investigated by the com- alission. It would, however, be possible to ...£1,200,000 improve the runtes throughout to the ...£1,600,000 | 100-ton standard without any insuperable
difficulty with respect to water supply. ...£1,200,000
