The consumption of beer in Germany, according to oficial statistics, is rapidly decreasing. During 1909 the consumption diminished spproximately by 65,000,000 gallons, or one gallon per head of the population. During the preceding year there had beon, a diminution of nearly 70,000,000 gallons, whilst during the lat accade there luas been decrease of threo- gallons, per head of the population per annam. The decline in the brewing trade 116 is also revealed by the diminishing number of breweries, in Germany. In 1900 there were 0035 in 107, 5792; in 1908, 5500; and in 1909, 4768.
