CHRISTIANS SUSPECTED OF REVOLUTIONARY IDEAS.
It is reported that some ten Chinese, and among them some prominent Christians, ' have been arrested in Fatalının and charged with revolutionary ideas. An official named. Wong Sa Ping efectel the arrests. He was ordered to do so by Adiuíral Li. The Iatter was advised by one Cheung. Kam Touy. The most prominent of those arrest- od in Shi Chan Chi, who is a dentist. At first apparantly Wong St Ping demurred at the order he received, and reported that there was no evidence that Mr Shi had bean doing anything wrong. He was wont to preach the doctrine of Jesus, and that all. However, the order was repeated, and Mr Shi was ordered to appear at the yazien.. Wong excused his action by saying that The lofty, mountains" (the higher officials) had sent ordem which could not be disregarded. There was some convers, stion and in the end Mr Shi was ordered write out a statement of what he had preached to be forwarded to the officials in Canton. The reporter of the afair, however, gives his version of the affair. He says that origin of the trouble is some old jeal oday between Mr Shi and Mr Choung over the management of the Red Cross Society. The latter was worsted in the affair, and went to Canton and hid a charge ugninst. Bir Shi as a mark of spite, and in order to have his revenge. What truth there may be in these explanations remains to be,
