THE INTERPORT CONTESTE.
Shanghai on its Defeat.
The following is from the N-D. Daily News:-"The Interport Swimming Car nival in over and has ended in a complete victory for Hongkong. The visitors have a champion of extraordinary promise. in Logan, who though under fifteen years of age, bas done things that would place him in the front ranks of amateur swimmers at home. Logan is one of those born swim. more who can accomplish without effort What others cannot do after years of training and practice, and Hongkong har avory reason to be proud of him. MacCabe, who is still the best swimmer that Shanghai can put into the water, in a game competitor, but we must be prepared to fod that he cannot repeat the per- formances of his carlier years; and though Shanghai possosses many other swimmers of more then average accomplishments, it ucoma obvious that we must look to the younger members of the community if Shanghai is ever to get the botter of Hong- kong in what we hope will be an annual interport contest. To old and young alike, however, one word of warning may fitly b addressed. It should be regarded as an honour to be selected to compete in Inter- port events, and rather than jeopardize
pattern, developing the same power at half the weight.
