Even now there was not that general interest in the Crown Colonies thst one would like to see, and there was nothing | like an adequate "appreciation on the pars of the public of their vast extent or their still vaster possibilities; but at any rate there was a great change for the better in our attitude, a more progressive and liberal policy, and a growing, tendency to regard them not as isolated and unimportant adjuncts of our Imperial heritage, but as destined to play a very essential part iritsi development as a whole.
MR CHANDERLAS ADMINISTRATION. One new and pregnant iden, dating from the great colonial administration of Mr Chamberlain, was the conception of the Crown colonies as complementary and in- dispensable to other parts of the Empire from the economic point of view. What appealed to many people was the business propositing that there was hardly anything which was wanted by one part of the Mim- pire which some other part did not or could not supply.
