Mr E. R. Hallifax to day fined two antives at the Magistracy $25 each for being in possesion of opium, and also sentenced the same mer to four months' imprisonment cach for being in possession of dies, stamps and Inbola imitating those of the Opium Farmer.

A Chinaman went into an opium ratailer's shop to purchase a quantity of the drug, but the karper would not accept a ten-cent piece, which be advanced, saying it was a nd one. This so mnoyed the would-be purchaser that he went out and got a brick and came back and throw it at the other man hitting him on the head. At the Magistracy to-day the aggressor was hned $10.
