KI MARRIOTT v. SEAMAN GARDNER. The eagerness of the "Kid” to subtla hia clever little opponent created a clamour from the huge audience such as is seldom heard at these fixtures. That this was deservedly so was amply substantiated by Marriott tendering an apology. The referee's attitude under the circumstances was apparently questionable, and Mar. riott's admission of the fault reflected upon the deliberative quality requisite in such a capacity. Continually ignoring the radi- Tmentary rales of the game, Marriott always ahod Gardner at his mercy, but so frequent 1 and palpably glaring werd the fouls that at last both men were sent to their corners and the referos, amidst land clamouring for Gardner, announced in favour of the dia GUNNER ENDOROOK, GUNNER HUBBARD, tressed sailor.
