OUTBREAK IN & SÄIL News has just come of an outbreak- among the prisoners in the Ching Yuen district jail. On the 7th day of this Moon there was a turbance in the prison and clever prisonera succeeded in regaining their liberty. The Magistrates sent a small body of troops to recapture the escaped men but on coming up with them they wou'd bet surrender anal force fight ensued, for by some means of other the fugitives had become possessed of firearms. The result of the fight was that nine pri- soners were shot dead, the other two wero badly wounded and two of the soldiers were al hurt. The wounded prisoners were taken lack to the jail and the magistrate then took precautionary measures to prevent any further escapes. The matter has been reported to the Vicemy.
