The Chairman informed the Committed that he had received a "telegram from MIX | J. H. Scott to the effect that Menara. Battorieid aud Swire and allied firms were antisfied that the conditions on which they | had promised to giva £40,000 to the En- dowment Fund of the University were faldiled and they confirmed the gilt. He had alan that afternoon received a letter from the Chairman of the Chinese Sub. Committee informing him that £113 (31.250) had been recaired from the Chinese in Australia towards the Endow ment Fund. The scholarships claimed by donors of $10,000 and upwards are as follows;—
Me Ng Li Hing, Four plus, one of 3120. Mr Chii U Thu Bin Au Chak Mại and
Mr Ho Tung, each one. The Canton Reorganization Bureau and the Canton Literary Chancellor, each four. The Canton Salt Commissioner and Cuo-

Total, twenty-two, involving a capital of

The Treasurer, Sir C. P. Chator, U.G.. called attention to the letter be bad addressed the Chairman and its raply which had been published in the local Press" ard stated that since the date of the subscription list attached to; that letter he had collected many of those 818 which had not been paid up.
