NOTICE.
A very large congregation gathered in St. John's Cathedral on Tuesday evening to listen to the think organ recital of the present series arranged by Mr Denman Fuller. Though rather short compared with other programmes which he has presented, the quality TAA of the same high standard previously stained and delighted all hearers. Mr Denman Fuller's contributions included the fue "Toccata and Fugue in D. Minor, by "Bach, which we have heard before on theTHE Interest and Responsibilities of the Cathedral organ; an exquisite Andaute Undersigned in the Firm of Mao- from an unfinished Symphony by Schubert; EWEN FRICEEL & 00, ceased on 1st A not too antifying "Pastorale" by Wely, day of October, 1909. McDowell's splendid tone-picture "To the Bea"; and Geilmant's Grand Choeur," a composition which always appeals. All were given with the fine masterly precision and sympathetic appreciation of the ideals of the various composers which wa always expect from the organist of St. John's.
The soloist on this occasion was Mrs Goldsmith and she gave a charming render- ing of the very difficult setting which Elgar has arolred for Mrs Browning's, semi- mystical poem “Sabbath Morning at Sea."
Ber clear contralt, once she had conquered a slight but natural nervankness, rang out! true and melodious in passage after passage of oxquisite beauty and the congregation listened with rapt attention. The old English carol, Good King Wenceslas" was another attractive feature. The solos were taken by Miss Nicholson sad Mr W. W. Matthews, who are both the possessora of fine voices, and the chorus were Mas A. Bellamy Brown, Mrs T. K. Dealey, Mrs Goldsmith, Mr.J. W. White, Mr W. Arm- trong and Mr F. A. Biden,
