(To the Editor of the "China Man") Sir,-Having found a little spare time to reply to your Correspondent "Wage Barner's" letter I crave permission for space in your widely read paper for the insertion of this letter.

Mr Wage-earner" has suggested that I should be none the worse for a short lesson in political economy and has pat forward the axiom that Governments are given the sole right of coining money on the distincti anderstanding that their coins shall alwaya' command their par value and that the Government of this Colony has dishonoured' ita own coin, therefore it has broken faith and is now justly called to account.

Let it be understood beforehand that I am not an advocate of the Government, which I have no doubt will, in due course of time, satisfy aren the most obdarzte sceptics of the wisdom of its sction in this matter for the best interests of the com- munity, as a whole, and not of any particular individual firm or company.
