Mr Chamberlain had the reputation of looking much younger than his actual years would indicate. He was smoothinčid, he had preserved his figure well, he dressed well he had a certain manner of a már- about-town; but all these are but super- fivial signs. For years past there must have been surely developing the degenerate changes in bis arteries, which were, do doubt, quite palpable to his medical atten- dan, and latterly must have been evident even to medical men who had the oppor. tunity of casually observing him.
