DEATH OF CAPT. BOHSON.
The news of the, death at Nowcastla-on- Tyns of Capa. Robson, of the Dougisa Steamship Company Ltd., will occasion deep regret "all along the Chim.cost. One of the most popular of skippars, Capt. Rabeen wa one of the most genial and open hearted of men and his presence was always welcome wherever he went. He had commanded many of the ships of the Company, among them the fainta, which he made a very favourite ship on the China Coast run. Some months ago Capt. Robson left for Home on sink-love, but all his friends hoped that he would soon be out again. It was not to be, however, and to-day inany a man in this quarter of the globe are mourning the loss of x good- man and truo,

HAYNAURGH, June 23: E TERRITORIALE AND FERIA COLCURS, Que hundred and eight Territorial units
colours from the hands of His Majesty the King, at Windsor, and of these only some twenty-four units came from Scotland These intarested in national defence do not consider the Bgures from Scotland satis factory, oven taking into account the fact that some of the units-such as the Queen's Edinburgh battalions of the Royal Scots and the Glasgow battalions of the Cameronians-are not entitled to carry colours, being cladas rifles. It was only by the most strenuous efforts. that several of the twenty-four units recruited up to the 15 per cent. atan dad which entitled them to receive the
boueurs, and namber of the other battalions are far below strength, and like
ly to romain, so. The backwardness is mainly in the North of Scotland. The Bouse, is made that this district is largely agricultural but it always provided a good quota in the days of Volunteering, and it ought to show botter, than it does undor the Territorial regulations. It is just from among the men engaged on the land that the anust of our recruits should be
obtained.
