"The main altar was tastefully ornamented, having at its centre a beautiful canopy covering the throne where the Holy Sacra mest way placed in a rich monstrance for public adoration, surrounded by artistic gilt metallic flowers interspaced by besutiful | ·' nickel candlesticks with large lighted can- dles. in relief representing the Agnus Dei reposing upon the Holy Scriptures, and the cloth covering of the altar was of magnificent gold face presented by the. ladies of the Apostleship ·Prayer. At tite roar of the main altar, from the top. of the arches to the bament, ... was a drapery of red damask, and all the arches and pillars round the Church were decor- sted with rod and white cloth. The pulpit was dressed with white flammak, the initials HS being conspicuously embroidered in the contrò. At the nave numerom Rowers in pots, amidst palms, covered the two corners between the channel, producing a nagnificent effect seo from the body of the Church. The main feature of the decorations was the altar consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. A life-size replica of the Sacred Heart rested within a latge niché upon a marble pedosial covored with Bowers, and beneath it were a prolusion of lightell candies amidst reme. rous artistic porcelain flowers. From the cailing two beautiful abandeliers, with ten candles each and a red globo in the centre, were lighted by electricity, and above the Communion table, close to the roof, sbcut forty coloured globes interlining the design of the iron supporters, were brilliantly illu minated. posite side all the pillars were draped in fancy red cloth with yellow ornaments. On the walls and pillars, small silk banners, inscribed in silver, the promises of Our Lord, were suspended.
