There are several prisons in this town and Mah Moo Soon was sent to whare 50 other primers wore confined. After three or four daya he was taken bofore the court again and asked to adusic he was robol. He refused and was then put in the cangue, the Chinese equivalent for the stocks, nisi kept thero an hour, Again he was pressed to admit being robel bat refused. He was next ordered to be dogged. Ha, got a strokes with a rod then was brought before the i court once again. Still refusing to answer as the court desire, he got flogged, 50 strokes at a time, till he got 200 and had became unconscious. The floggings lasted for over an hour and a half. Unconscious and bleeding he was carried on a board to the prison whore ho lay for eight days unable to be.. After the lapse of eight days attempts were made to take his hand.
