The Legislative Council on Thursday went into committee to consider the Bill authorising the construction of the pro- pared new Peak Tramway.

After that the discussion was adjoumel, and the question of the real routes for this tramway was referred to the Public Works! «Committee of this. Council on 10th Decem- ber, last. Their report was presented to the Council or 11th March, and was adopted. The Pablic Works Committed condemned the treatle scheme, and they recomended the adoption of the scheme of an open cutting, or alternatively, if that whe not approved, the adoption of a third' sebene, which was for timal under the public gardens. The Corpany who are promoting this sebene were therefore told that the Government would not ba able to support a schumie for enrrying the tramway on trestle up Glenealy Valley, and were naked which of the
two other schemes they preferred. They replied, the second; the open cutting
