The Hippodrome, Circus and Menagerie. opened what should proves most successful season last night at Causeway Bay. In the huge and extremely well-appointed marques a crowd running into thousands assembled, and they witnessed the carrying out of a pro- gramme brimful of variety and sufficiently lengthy to satisfy the biggest glutton. Itwas a most unfortunate circumstance, however, that when the heart of the programme had been reached and all were being highly- delighted with the fare served up, a violent thunderstorra broke, and, notwithstanding the magnificent tea, the deluge of rain- Boon soaked through the canvas overhead and poured down in sheets.
