FRESENTATIONS TO MR J.

# GRAY SCOTT.

Tba

An interesting ceremony took place, at tho Thumway Depot on Monday when Mr J., Gray Scott, who is retiring from the position of general manager of the Electric Traction.

Co. of Hongkong. Ltd.. was the recipient

"at fafswell momentors. On behalf of

the Traffic Staff Mr A. Course presented Bir Sent with an album with handsomely carted blackwood covers and silver mount" ings. On the front cover of the book. two dragons were carved in the shape of a circle, within this being a tramear in perspective. The book contained an Pluminated address and tho eignatures of the men employed on the Trafic Staff; wall some forty photographs of the Tramway system. A gold fob chain with bis name inscribed on one side, and lucky Chinese characters on the other. was in- cluded in the presentation. Mr Course į asked Mr Scott to necept she gifta as a mark of the apprecvitica and esteem in which they held him. The gifts would form mement és of his residence in Hong- kong as Chief Engineer and General Man ager of the Tramway Company, and he had ng doubt that Mr Scott, would be all the more pleased to accept them when ho learned that subscriptions to defy the cost were started entirely on the initiative of the Chinese Staff.

Mr Scott said he nccepted the gifs with the greatest of pleasure. He had always had every assistance from the staff, which zate his work much easier. He was sorry to leary Hongkong, but trusted that the Stall world extend the same assistance to his successor as they had to him.

Mr Malder, assistant engineer, on behalf of the Engineering Saf, presented "Me Scott with a morocco bound album cuntain. ing at address and photographs of the engineers in the Tramway Service.

Mr Scutt returned thanks for the present, and then, on behalf of the engineers pre- scatad Mr Maldon, who is also leaving the Colony, with a similar bank to the one ha had received.

Mr cult is lö ou entertained at dinner to-morrow night at the Hongkong Hotel by a number of prominent residents.
