Capt. Hugh Robert Newburgh-Stewart, who died recently in London at the age of seventy-six was a Naval Koight of Windeor from November 1887 to Septem- ber 1892. He joined the mivel sarvice as acades in March 1848 and served in the gunboat Lily from 1850 to 1854 on the West Coast of Africa, East Indies, and China Stations, during which time he was employed in the suppression of the slaye trule in the Porsian Gulf, as well as taking part in several ac- tions with pirates in the China Bess. For his services he was made an acting heutenant and was in charge of
