Despite the fact that some of our leading furâtes were present at the concert last might, there was rather a larger attendance at the Face Course this morning, some ownere turning up who rarely come to sas their ponies-galloped.
A considerable diversion was caused by a sergeant of police being detailed off to shoot the stray dogs which invest, the -course in the morning, much to the sa- noyance, inconvenience, and not a little danger of the ponies and their riders. His "bag," as reported, was one dog killed and -one peppered, but this is not authentic.
Though it was not actually raining when the light began to show, there was a heavy mist over the valley which obscured the poste on the far side. The outside course was closed, so the sand track only could be need. The going was heavy, the penies splashing through pools of water lying here and there on the track.
