Besario; 2nd Prixe presarited. bought' with the ontrance fees, won by Mr D. Carvalho.

Treasurer, laid upon the table the so- counts, from November, 1907 dl the date of the meeting wich showed that the Chub was carrying forward a balanos of $204,02 an against $167.96 brought forward in November, 1987.-Ou the mo tion of Mr Pollock, who took the chair, the accounts were passed,
The next matter brought up for discus- sion was the selection of a place of meet- ing, and it was resolved that Mr A, F. B. Silex Netto should approach the Manager | of the Astor House with a view to secusing the use of a room for the Chess' Club in the afternoons, from 5.15 pr. onwards, Mondays and Thursdays being specially selected for playing match games. -An arrangement has since been arrived at with the Manager of the Astor Bouse upon the above lines, and consequently the Chas Clab will meet at the Astor House till further notice.

It was also decided that, if possible, an international match bo played between members of the British, German and Por-- tuguese communities, (with liberty to other nationalities to compete) each team to play the other two teams, with eeren players a side and each player playing two games against his opponent; the winning turun to be the team which scores the highest aggre- -gate number of marks.
A challenge shield will be presented by Mr H. E. Pollock, to be won outright by the teara which wine three years in succes- sion.
The possibility of holding an inter-club match was then discussed, but it was decided to let the matter stand over for the present.
The following committee were then elected Mr H E. Pollock, president; Mr M. J. Danenberg, hon. treasurer: Mr P. A. Rozario, bon. secretary; Mr 5. D. Setna, and Mr A. F. B. Siles Notta.
