This Vollection was gathered together by prominent Members of the Art Society of Japan for disping in The ART GALLERY at Tokyo on the ccension of the Great Exhibitions arranged to take place during 1912, on account of the postponent of which the collection has been brought to this City for sale.
Such an opportunity of acquiring objects of Japanese High Art seldom occure. On View on Wednesday, the 16th instant.

From San Francisco papers just to hand we gather some particulars of the shooting on Nov. 13 of Mr Francisco J. Beney, the leading figure in the prosecution of the lato Mayor of the city, Eugene Schmidt, and his chief henchman, Abe Ruef, for Low municipal corruption. It appears that a Jewish saloonkeeper named Morris Haas, when about to be chosen as a juryman was once challenged by Mr Heney and the record of his life thoroughly enquired into. This so upset Hans that the man deter mined to wreak vengence and so waiting his opportunity he shot Heney in open Court It was during a ten minutes recess of court, while the Jury was out of this room and after the attornoys for the prosceation and defence had returned from a short con- ference with Judge Larlor in his armbore, that, Hency having resumed his customary seat and entered into conversation with Chief Clerk McCabe, of the district attorney's office, Hans cares forward from among the spectators, approached Honey and placing a revolver against Honey's right cheek, fired. Instantly the court room was the scene of the greatest excite- ment. Hans was seized, and others husten. ed to administer first aid to Henoy, the blood streaming from the wound.
