NEWSPAPER FOR CANTON.

(From Our Own Cerrapon),

CANTON, November 30. Yesterday witnessed the birth of an English newspaper in Canton, The Ceston Weekly News. To use the works of the editor, it appears without any previous notice or preliminary advertising' and is to all of us kore something in the nature of a surprise packet.

The first number deals wholly with Canton news and report of the last meeting of that hidden body the Shamoen Munici pal Council.

It consists of eight pages, the contents of which aro interesting and quito; smasing in some parte which cast a J. light on Chinese ways of justice. If the type were a little smaller and the spacings little less prodigal the editor might have room for more news. randing of the proofs also requires greater atleation,
