The Regular Army has been toduced by 16,276 men in the past three years. Mx Arthur Lee, who asked for full particulars from Mr Haldane in the House of Com- mons, received the following figures, show- ing the number of men serving with the colours: October 1, 1908, 166,043. Mr Haldane denied emphatically that Iris policy of reducing the strength of tho Regular Army had turned thousands of men ince the streets. No belonging to the disbanded units. he said, bad been dismissed from the Army.
