BRITAIN'S RECORD CRUISER.

HMS. Indomitable Steams 28 Knots.

All battleship and cruiser records have boo beaten by tho now British armoured 41чiser Indomitable.

It is reported that she has obtained a the pond of twenty-eight knots on

Casured mile in the Clyde, and as easily having maintained a sped of twenty-six and quarter knots during continuous eaming-in-her trials which are now in järogress.

The Indomitable was built by the Fair- fehl Company at Govan, and is to all older. armoured cruisers what the Breadnought is to all older battleships. A speed of twenty-five knots was required by the contract conditions, but it has been under- stood from the first that the Admiralty expected twenty-six or twenty-seven knots; of her. This expectation has now seeiu- ingly been fulfilled. She has turbine en- gives of the Parsons type, and carries eiglit 12-in. guns. so arranged that all car. Bre on either broadside. Her armour is 7 to Sin. thick, She is one of three sister ships, the others being the Invincible and in Aexiblo.
