"The Japan Advertiser states: The question of purchase by Japan from the Great Northern Telegraph. Co. of the bearing cable between Fasan and Tsas- hún Isband is again rousing interest.
"Several times since the sigting in April, 1005, of the treaty whereby Japan 604 assamed control of communications in Korca, this country ha spproached the NAVI-Danish company with a proposal to pur- chase. The last eonference with this end in view took place in the summer of 1907, and the Communications Department was then informed by the Company's repre- sentative that there was no objection to the transaction, but that it would be possible unless the agreement made between the Company and Japan i 1882 was amended. This agreement, acording to the Tokyo prèss, provides among other things that neither Japan nur any third party shall lay any cable lines, between Japan and the continent of Asia.
