HAICHING'S ENGINEER DIES,
Death Due to Plague.

Asoy, January 9, The third engineer of the steamer Halching was taken ill with what turned out to be nguo, and was put on chore hore and taken to the Amoy Hospital on Monday last, Uth, but died on Tuesday early, 11e was buried in the Kulangsu Cemetery at 2.30 p.m. His name was Mr G. L. Laug, and came from Australia. He was only 21 years of age. It is strange how he could have caught plague as this is the cold sonson, and thers are vory few cases occurring in the Amoy region just now, but probably he contracted the disease at Hongkong or Fuochow.
