THE WUCHOW FIRE.

Early Reports Exaggerated.

(From One Correspur dant.)

Wicitow, Octuber 2,

We are glad to be able to report that the loss of life during the recent fire was much

less than at first stated.

When the first telegrams were sent off the fire was still raging so that no accurate information could be obtained. The roports were many and differed widely. Wo hard that a number of people had shut themselves up in their houses or shops in order to protect their helongings from robbery und looting, and theu me the flames swept down upon Dom found that all ways of escape had been cut off. This proved to be incorrect,

We have ady heard of me death so far by the fire and a few only when revvivai minor injuries.
