30 Lakhs Required,
Application was made at the High Court on July 14 before Justice Buddam and Millor for the release of Sir George Arbuth not on buil.
After hearing Mr Napier on behalf of the applicant and Mr Powell, the public prosecutor, in opposition, their Lordships passed orders to the effect that they were willing to release accused on bail of üve lakhs in tach case, that is tara sureties of Rs. 24 lakhs each, and the applicant to be bound for Rs. five lakhs. There were three cases and their Lordships would re- quire bail in much case, totalling Rs. 30 Lakhs.
Mr Napier objected to the large amount required, quoting authorities to the effect that bail should not be male punitive, but their L riships held that the bail required
