EVICTED TENANTS
LONDON, July 9.
The Evicted Tenants Bill, which was.. Introduced by Mr Birrell, Chief Secretary for Ireland, on June E7, has passed its scoond rasding in the House of Commons
by 315 votes to 38
The Bill empowers the Estates Commis sioners to acquire land compulsorily for the reinstatement of 2000 evicted people, who will be regarded as the purchasers under the Land Act.-Router.
INDIAN FINANCE.
LONDON, July 10. Mr John Morley, Secretary for India, replying in the House of Commons to Sir E, A. Sassoon, Conservative M.P. for Hytle, mid it had been decided, from the presont year, and until the gold standard resorve ronches £20,000,000 sterling, that half of the profit upon the coinage, together with the interest on securities, be added to the reserve, and the other half will supplement the funds available for capital expenditure on Indien railways, Reuter.
