In a recent issue of "F.T.O." a state- nent was made to the effect that since the death of Princess Christina only ten Bonapartes were left in the work. This (writes a correspondent) is to take us aç- count of the Bonaparte family in America probably the most distinguished branch at the present moment of the great Corsican house. Before Prince Jerome, the youngest brother of the great Napoleon, married Princess Kathorine, daughter of Frederiek I of Wurtemberg, he was married to the beautiful Mias Patterson, of Baltimore, U.S.A. This conuection greatly incensed the Emperor, who refused to allow his brother's bride to land in Europe. By dint of threats and persuasion Joreno was induced to leave his American bride and take to himself the Royal Princess provided by Napoleon. Poor Miss Put- terson returned to America, where she gave birth to a 500, Edward Patterson Bonaparte. Jerome's conduct in so cruelly deserting his wifo greatly incensed the American Government, and an official pro- nouncement was made declaring that Miss Patterson was legally and in the eyes of God the wife of Jerome Bonaparte, and that bet
