The following are the Reports of tho Sub-Committees for 1908.
REPORT OF THE BOAT HOUSE SUB-COM- MITEE.The Commitico regret to have to report such an expensive season. Up to the Typhoon of September Tast there was a keen interest taken in rowing and quila fow new powing members joined. There was ono 4-cared race hell in tho Buranier, 6 boots competing, but after the total destruction of all the Fours and the Par qur, all interest was lost until the General Committee decided to pur- chase a 2nd-band Four from Cantón and to build a couple of Tubs and a Gig: This was dono and a regatio was arranged between the local and Canton Rowing Clube and training was well in hand with three V.R.C. crown when the Regatta was abandoned: All that is left for the outgoing Sub-Committee to report on is the loss of boats and the condition of boats and gars at present in the Clab, but before doing this they would suggest that the General Coni- milteo get three pair-cured boats built as for the timo, being. Fours are use- less owing to the difficulty in launching them during swimming season and obstructions caused by building. This will enable those members, who only go coin for rowing, to carry on and furiber.
