Finally, lot American firms study the wants of the Chinese, and let them manu. facture Chinese articles in Americs for sale in China. In this connection I beg to call. the attention of American firms to those Gorman, manufacturas who make the rub- ter overshoes worn by the Chirico people. Theso overshoes are not like the overshoesS worn in Germany, but they are what the Chinese wear, and hence the German firms control the market in that line..
