B
THE AFTERMATH OF THE LIN.
CHAU MASSACRE.
(From Our Correspondant.)
CANTON, November 26,
It is reported that the Americas Conqul- General of Canton has brought certain Zoinks of the people of Lin-Chau to the notice of the new Viceroy, and asked that an inquiry be instituted, and if the allega. tions made avainst a number of people are found to be well founded, that punishment beawarded to them. It has been complained that since the burning of the houses tho people have been carrying off bricks and tiles and have been selling them. The caretaker has been unable to prevent this. Then it appears that one Mr Liu had lei the representatives of the Mission a fish- pond. As there were fish in this pond fit for the markut, certain of the neighbours baled all the water out and gathered all the fish up out of the mud and sold the lot for $300. The owner of the pond remons- trated with these men, who ware of his clan, whereupon they seized him and beat him unmercifully. Unless the law-abiding neighbours had interfered, the ruffians would have beaten him to death. These alloged facts have now been brought to the notice of the new Viceroy and apparently ho has issued stringent orders to the local officials, who under the later months of Viceroy Shum's regime were indifferent to all requests for assistance, and commanded them to look into the matter, and, if it is found that these charges are correct, thon those law breakers are to be arrested and punished sovorely. Thus the matter, as reported by the native press, stands at present. If therefore, this report is sub- stantially correct, we shall see better inge in the province: for if the Viceroy will not allow them things to pass unnoticed, the local inland official will soon find that it is to their interents to see that a stop in put to this sort of thing, and they will be discontinued

Could Not Rest Day or Night-Felt Miserable From Itching-Cured Before Using One Complete Set of the Cuticura Remedies-Now Says: "It Ought to Be
A HOUSEHOLD WORD.
THE NAME OF CUTICURA"
"I broke out with eczema through get- ting a severe cold. I was covered on my chest, back and limbs for five weeks. I could not rest day or night. I took one vial of Cuticura Pills and used one box of Cuticura Ointment and one cake of Cuticura Soap. I was oured before I had used one set of the Cuticura Remedies. I read about the curca of Cuticura in the papers. I thought what they had done for one they could do for another, but after I had used Cuticura Soap for a day or two I believed it was a priceless remedy for anything, it was given a trial. In fact, I scarcely believed I was oured in so short a time, and I felt much better and stronger than I did before taking the set, of Cuticura Remedies. I shall not forget to recommend them to any one. "I any one knew what the Culicurs Rem- edies can do, there would not be so many doctor's bills to pay, when you ean got a curs at a trifling cost. It ought to be a household word, the name of Cuticura. I should like to tell you, before I conclude, the mash made me feel so ill. litched so and how miserable I was. I used the Soap and Ointment and felt better after the third applies- tion. I felt they were doing the good
but to be cured, and not to feel lif
I consider them remarkable remedies, and if only people know what they can do for them, they all would want to be fest to try them.. I beg to say I never felt better than I do at present. T. Alfred Watson, Well House, Stocke- bridge, nr. Sheffield, Eng., Feb. 19,1906,"
