A Dew C. P. R. tenin which is the con- necting link for the ocean service, known as the "Oversens Mail" left Quebec on its first run on Friday, August 31st, on which date the "Empress of Ireland" roached that part.
Within about an hour the westbound passengers were transferred,
with their baggage, to the timin, and 9- hours later they were in Vancouver, fru transportation to the Orient; the name of speed with the absolute minimum of in- convenience. The mails, of course, are carried on the same train.
The first return trip began on September, 17th frous Vancouver, on the arrival of the "Empress of India" and renched Quebec on September 21st, to connect with the "Empress of Britain," due in Liverpool with the mails and passengers from the East on September 28th, and thence onward the trips will occur recularly be tween the two sets of Empresses. Tho only change necessary to innugarite this service was the setting back of the sailing
