ROYAL TOUR IN INDIA.
Gratifying Results,
LONDON, March 1.
The tour of T. R. H. the Prince and the Princess of Wales is now reported officially
to have been completed.
It is regarded as having been most grati- fying from a political point of view, and has been marked by continual demonstrations. of affectionate loyalty from both Chiefs and Peoples.
During the tour the Prince's intercourse with the Chiefs everywhere lub produced the happiest impression...
THE LATE KING. OHRISTIAN.
King Christian'a relation to a number of ryal houses might fairly be termed pa- triarchal, says The Times: To this country he gave our gracious Queen. To Russia he gave his second daughter, Princess Dagmar, the present Dowager-Empress. His oldest son, who succeeds him as Fre derio VIII., married the daughter of King Oscar of Sweden. His second son is King of the Hollenes. His grandson-the son of King Frederic-is King Haakon, who was last year chosen as the first ruler of inde 1370 pendent Norway. Another grandson, the Crown Prince of Greece, is married to a sister of the Emperor of Germany. Well might King Christian's Consort, the late Queen Louise, be genially-named "the aunt of all Furopo.' We might pursue the catalogue of alliances, which is not exhausted, but enough details have been, given to show how many threads of royal relationship met in the person of the late King. It will be noticed that they com prised almost all the non-Roman Catholic reigning Houses, from.realms of the Ortho- dox Church in Eastern Europe, like Russia and Greeco, to the Protestant countries of the West.

THE CROWN CUSHION OF
SCOTLAND.
Sir Patrick Keith Murray, of Uchterlyre. Perthshire, has presented an interesting! heirloom to the nation. This is the cu-bion on which the crown of Scotland used to rest. It came into the Ochtertyre family on the marriage of Sir William Keith: Murray with the heiress of the last Maris. chal Keith. The King's Remembrancer has caused the cushion to be placed in the Jewel Room of Edinburgh Castle, which contains the Scotch regalla. By the way, the Scotch regalia was hidden away in an oak chest in the strong room of Edinburgh' Castio from 1707 until 1818, when it wa searched for and discovered mainly through the exertions of Sir Walter Scott. It was generally supposed to have been stolen at the period of the Union or during the Jaco. bite rebellion of 1745.
EXPULSION FROM A CLUB.
A Test Case.
An interesting action is likely to be tried
at an early date in the Dublin courts. The name of Mr Edward Martyn, of Tillyra, Castle, county Galway, has been removed from the list of members of Kildare Street Club, and he proposes to test the validity of his expulsion in the Law Courts. Mr Martyn became some time ago president of The ** National Council," a body which advocates the boycotting of all things Eng- lish, including the Navy and Army, Hu attributes his removal from the member. ship of the Kildare Street Club to his political opinions, and particularly to certain speeches which he delivered at a conven- tion of the National Council" in Novem ber last. On that occasion he boasted that by the work of the National Council' the recruiting in Ireland had considerably decreased, and, referring to the system of flogging in the Navy, he said that any Nationalist who entered the English Navy deserved to be flogged. Mr Martyn has retained Mr T. M. Healy, M. Pr, as leading coumsel.
