PARES, Oct. 9. French newspapers record the

humiliating return to Paris of M. Gallay, the bank robber, and his companions, as hough he wore the King of Spain. Gallay and his companions, in charge of seven detectives, reached Bordesúr last night, and arrived in Paris at halfpast eight this morning. They travelled in a second-class corridor coach, which was reserved for them

A writter in the Gaulois, who had, a' conversation with Gallay, on board the ship, does not encourage us to look for a much more amusing philosophy in Gallay than there is in most other swindlers.

*Do not expect that I shall tell you con- fidences,' said Gallay, 'I have suffóred too much from the Press for that.'

"Your sufferings,' said the interview r *have given you a singular ides of my pro fession; but that does not explain to me why you havo embezzled £32,000."

Why,' said Gallay, because it was not good enough, after, having fagged all the day, to go and eat meals at one and six- pence.*

If everybody had that conception of lifo,' remarked the interviewer, in a righte ous aporiopesis, it would be anarchy.' Said Gallay,The established order of things would not exist any more, and so much the better."
