The short lived in starred Duke of Reich- stadt, the only son of Napoleon I and Marie Louise of Austria, might almost be loscribed as one of the suppressed person- ages of history. He was born in 1811, and died in 132. Talleyrand is believed to ave advocated, at the time of the Revolu tion of 130, his claims to the French throne, but his proposals were coldly ro- calved, even at the Austrian Court, and nothing came of the scheme. Hitherto there has been no authentic account of the King of Rome in the English language, and very little, for the matter of that, bas been writton about him in France. Pro- fessor Wertheimor is stated to have collected great deal of historical material, and he has made a book of it, which Mr John Lane is about to publish. The interest of the monograph is to ba heightened by several portraits, the majority of which are quite nknown on this side of the English Ohannel.

Recently the King started off in his motor-car-without-warning and in a short space of time all trace of him was lost. Polios telephones were kept busy asking in Pamphlona, Hendaya and other places if the King had been seen, and all replied in the negative. While San Sebastian telegraphed the Governor of Navarre, the young King was speeding across the Pyrenees via Jacs and on to Paua, whers he visited the castle of Henry IV. BRIGHT'S DISEASE AND DROPSY.

CURED 1 YEARS.

FISS A. M. Steadman, living at 130, Cambridge Road, Kilburn, London, England, says: -

I wish I could tell you how thankful I am for the good Doan's Backache Kidney Pills have done me. They have saved my life. Before I began using them, the doctor said I couldn't live another three months, but that was a your and a quarter ago, and I'm as well to-day as ever I was in my life.

Before using Doan's Pills I was suffer- ing from Bright's disease and dropsy. My body was so swollen that I couldn't get my clothes or boots on; the pains in my back were fearfully agonizing and I could hardly breathe. Though I went under hospital treatment, and had the best of medical advice, I kept getting worse and worse until I began with Doan's Pills. I cannot speak too highly of this medicine, for it did me good from the first, and although it was a year and a quarter ago that I was cured, I am still in splendid health."
