The following suggested rules, for the Pulico to observe in case of wires charged with electricity falling in the street were frame by the Incorporated Electrical A socistion, and upprated in the Electrical Times of the 23rd July, 1973;— ་་་ In the event of telephone or telegraph
ly
wires falling and making contac' with the overhead trolley wire, or in the event of the trolley wire its If or its guard wires falling, all traffic in the elono vicinity of the wires should be stopped, and the public prevented from approaching the fallen wirch.
The fallen wires should on no account bo intorfered with by the police or any unau thorised person unless for the purpose of saving life or protoctine persons from being injured, as explained in Rule v.
Notice should be a once given to the nearest tramway fficial, who will take steps 10 c toth current
If such official is not available, notice should he at once gent to the Tramway Power Station by telephone or mensonger with a reques for so prong in authority o proneed at once to the spot to deal with fallen wiron.
Drivers of cars should not be called upon
to interfere with the fallen wires, unless it
is for the purpose of saving life or prevent-
ing perous from being injured.
If the fallen wire is in contact with any person and it is necessary to remove it at. onco in order to save life or prevent injury, the following points should be rement- bered
The poran removing the wire should -Never touch it with his bare hands or a damp cloth. Nover touch the person in contact with it, except as mentioned- use a Dry stick, Dry rope or article of Dry clothing, or India-rabber gloves if avail. ablo, lo drag the wire away or to drag the person away from the wire.
Note that it is very important that any article used for this purpose should be Dry; a wet art cle will convey the electric curront and may give the person handling it a severe shock.
