MAIL STEAMER DEPARTURES,
The following table is a chronologically arranged list of mail steamer sailings to Europe, America, Canada, and Australia. Coast ports, Manila, and
Japan are not given, for steamers are constantly sailing for those ports. All the American steamers call at Japan, and the majority of the Australian boats call at Manila, and, in addition to those vessels, special steamers run there. The departure of every steamer is subject to alteration, The P. & O. mails usually reach London in about 28 days, and the French and German in about 28 or 30 days

ALLAHABAD, May 9.-The decision to move the 7th Gurkhas from Dharmsala and place them at Bakloh until the next cold
weather is one which the regiment itself will welcom......, Bakloh is not an ideal hill cantonment by any means, but is on more stable ground than Dhurmala and with. better climate in the rains,
The 1st Gurkhas it is ald, have still a lingering love for the wooden spars below the Dhaoladhat range and is under the old charter they have the right to remain at Dharmsala so long as they choose, the decision regarding their future location cannot yet be given. If, however, the geological experts and engineers pro- nource an opinion next October that the station should be abandoned altogether the 1st is not likely to contest the wisdom of the move': Elsewhere they can be, says the Pioneer, given another permanent station and ong probably that will be better placed, healthier and with good manoeurring ground. There is a plateau Immediately below the chor awaiting ocupation and the question of a cantonment in that direction may once more be reopened. The big hill which is such a feature in the landscapa looking eastwards from Simla 'should not be neglected any longer. Bfar as at pro gent can ho ascertained the spur at! Dharmsala on which the Gurkha canton- menia stood seems quite afe, there being no signs of any radical disturbance of the ground in any part.
The Survey Department is about to take observations in and about Dehra with a view to seeing whether any of the natural features of the valley have been affected by the earthuske. Similar observations will be made at Dharmaak in the Kangra valley and along the Dhaoladhar range. Sir Denzil Ibbetson will probably visit the Kangra valley at a later period of the year, All necessary relief measures are being
