It is also eported that the U.S. President objects to there being too many Belgian shares and has an idea of forming a joint concern with American and Chinese capital in it and that both ex-governors Teng and Wang have the ides of despatching a delegate to America
to conclude the dispute amicably. But this
must not be brought to the knowledge of
both Wa Ting-fang and Chang Chen-houn
and that Chang Chen-hsun shall be warned
not to come down to Shanghai.

THE BALTIC FLEET.
Tas information which came to us from Tokio last night announcing that the Baltio fleet had been stopped in its course to the East is most portentous, Even if it is not actually true in detail it shows that there is something in the air which points directly to the stoppage of the feet at no distant date, if the order has not already been given. Our correspondent in Tokio is particularly well-informed, and while allowing the usual grain of salt for news of this sort which emanates from the capital of
inclined Nippon, we are
to be

their """ cannonsding destructive to all life and

The situation presont is an extremely, pecul and that being so it is natural sorts and conditions of rumours arise. is perhaps bett credence in none until official ligence is published.
