This first trial has proved completely successful, the ball lying evenly on the waves, but with more persona to weight it would probably be steadier.

The three occupants of the Doenvig globe have arrived here. They deolars that they enjoyed their experience very much, and are iu the best of health, which, indeed, Anyone could see.

The only thing they missed during their forty-eight hours' confinement was freedom of movement, but they were highly pleased with the success of the trial. S

The globe affords room for sixteen per sons. It has since been

brought here, where it is now anchored, and excites the admiration of both seamen and ship

owners.

CLAIM FOR AN AMAH'S WAGEN,

a large number of important operations, have entered into contracts with these operations, and we have to Carry them through. The principal ones are Waterworks.

For these works we propose to spend $800,000 out of a total of $1,815,310, that is to say 44 per cent. of the Public Works Extraordinary vote. The other works to which we are committed are the Bacteriological Laboratory, the Harbour Office, the Law Courts, the Wes- tern Markets and the Post Oflice, all of which are in hand. For these $490,000 out of $1,815,310 are required, that is to say 26 per cent. of the whole; and again for re- sumption--the necessity for which cannot he questioned for the improvement of the sanitary condition of the town-we have es timated for $150,000 or 8 per cent. of the total. The tide table given below has been Bacolod compiled at the Nautical Almanac Office Iliolo

Cebu

in London from the result of the analysis of observations taken by means of an au-O. S. James 4 p. tomatic tide-recording machine in the Wa Malate ter Police Basin at Tsim Sha Tsui during

the years 1887-8-0.

The zero of the table corresponds with the zero of the soundings in the Admiralty Charts which has been found to be 4 feet 3 inches below mean son lovel.
