The New Arsenal at Pinghsiung, in | Kiangsi province, according to Viceroy Chang Chih-tung's plan, is to be much larger than the Kiangnan Arsenal, and extra machinery is to be purchased for this pur- pose from abroad for the new Arsenal. In other words, the scheme is to make the Pinghsiang Arsenal capable in the near future of turning out twenty q.f. field guns à month, and an output of something like 2:0 rifles and 100,000 cartridges a day.
