Contrary to the war- atliko news emanating from England, the French Press is laying great stress in their remarks on the love of pdace shown by all Great Powers, and the sagacious tactics of Japan.

ers relieved the pressure, Shottle carrying the ball to half-way. From a line-out, 1814 Barnes broke away, dodging the three- quarters. When he approached the full- back, he endeavoured to punt lightly over his head, but the latter caught the ball and sent it up field. The nimble foot- work of the Wanderors carried the ball into the Club's territory, but a free kick sont them back. Barnes and Selanders stopped a passing rush, and immediately afterwards Shettle broke through the for. wards and passed to Brown, from whom it wont to Pedrick, but Crozier blocked him. F. H. Campbell made a fine run from the centre, passing to Robertson when atlack od. The latter was pushed into tauch, He Barnes got the ball from the line out. dulged his way through the ruck, ami pass sed to Hallifax when near the line. Full- back Campbell collared Hallifax, but the pace at which Hallifax was going carried him over and he scored, Burues missing the gual. (3-0). The Wanderers attacked from the kick out, and at half-time were dangerously near the Club's line.
The game in the second half was op- ened with loose play, the Wanderers working up the field. King ran round from a scrummage near the line and scored for the Wanderers, Campbell adding the extra points (3-5). The Club then took a hand in attacking, and seemed likely to increase their score. Barnes, Campbell and Robertson figured in a fine passing bout, but nothing came of it. Then Ro- bertson dashed along the wing, but was sent out over the corner flag, the roferec awarding a quarter-way kick to the Wan- derers. A brilliant rush, in which the whole of the Wanderers' throe-quarters handled the ball, culminated in King scor ing right between the posts, Campbell cou. verting (3-10). It was a fine piece of work, the best shown during the day. P. H. Campbell, Robertson and Barnes tried hard to break through the Wanderers' defence, but their efforts were of no avail. Shettle intercepted a pass and ran along the line, being thrown heavily by 1'. H. Campbell after he had gone into loúch, P. H. Campbell, who was playing well, dodged his way through the Wanderers' pack from outside twenty-five, beat the three-quarters and full-back, and scored behind the posts. Barnos kicked an easy goal. (8-10). The Wanderers were at- macking when the final whistle went short- ly after.
The Wanderers played the better for- ward game of the two, and, although their passing at times approached brilliance, on the whole, it was faulty. Campbell was safe at full-back; Shettle, King and Long- more were good in their positions, and the whole of the forwards played well.
P. H. Campbell played the best game for
