Anglo-Italian Treaty. November 23.-The Trbuan of Rome says that the Marquis of Lansdowne, the" British Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Signor Tittoni, the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs, have agreed upon the terms of an arbitration treaty similar to that of the Anglo-French treaty, but on a wider basis.
Railway Collision in Switzerland.
A railway accident occurred yesterday at Palczieux, a town in Switzerland, near Lausinne. The express from Berne to Lausanne, when wearing the town named, came into collision witha derailed engine. Five passengers of the express were killed, including Miss Rickett, an English govor: ness, and her two Russiau pupils. Suven people were injured.

Straits Dinner in London. Dcember 3.—At the Straits dinner last night, under the presidency of Mr Galland, 250 guests sat down, including the principal oficials and merchants connected with the Straits. London, December 2.-A dinner was given to Lord Northcote last night, at the Trocadero, by the Australian Club. The Right Hon. Alfred Lyttelton was in the hand in his upeoch lie dwelt upon the far-reaching consequenees the next few years were likely to have on our relations with the great Colonius. He wished the example of his illustrious predecessor in visiting the Colonies might be followed. Mr Lyttelton said that Lord Northeate entered upon his new duties with the good- will and sincere good wishes of all. In Lady Northcote le had a worthy helpmate who, in Bombay, won the devoted friend- ship of Anglo-Indian and nativo alike. Lord Northcote replied that he was going to Australia with tho earnest desire to realise the great imperial mission which Jointly devolved upon the Mother Country and the Colonies.
A Mahommedan Runs Amok. Calcutta, December 3.- A terrible tragedy has occurred at Barrackpore. A young Mahommedan killed his brother and
