FOR BABY'S SKIN
SCALP AND HAIR
Something for Mothers to Think About
EVERY CHILD born into the world with an inherited or early developed tendency to distressing, disfiguring humours of the skin, scalp, and blood, becomes an object of the most tender solicitude, not only because of its suf- fering but because of the dreadful fear that the disfigura- tion is to be lifelong and mar its future happiness and prosperity. Hence it becomes the duty of mothers of such afflicted children to acquaint themselves with the best, the purest, and most effective treatment available, viz., THE CUTICURA TREATMENT.
Warm baths with CUTICURA SOAP, to cleanse the skin of crusts and scales and soften the thickened cuticle, gentle anointings with CUTICTRA OINT- MENT, to instantly allay itching, irritation, and inflammation, and soothe and heal, to be followed in the severer cases by mild doses of CotiCura RESOL- VENT PILLS (see below), to cool and cleanse the blood, are all that can be desired for the alleviation of the suffering of skin-tortured infants and children and the comfort of worn-out, worried mothers. A single set is often sufficient to cure when the best physicians fail.
Millions of Women Use Cuticura Soap
Assieted by CUTICURA OINTMENT, for preserving, purifying, and beautifying the skin, for cleansing the scalp of crusts, seales, and danruti, and the stopping of falling hair, for softening, whitening, and soothing red, rough, and sore hands, for baby rashes, itchings, and channgs, in the form of baths for annoying irritations and Inflammations, or too free or offensive perspiration, in the form of washes for ulcerative weaknesses, and for many eanatire, antiseptic purposes which readily suggest themselves to women, especially mothers, and for all the purposes of the tollet, bath, and nursery.
CUTICURA RESOLVEKT PILLS (Chocolate Coated) are prepared to meet the wants of delicato women, and sensitive children, and are pure, sweet, and tasteless. They are beyond question the most successful blood purifiers and humour cures yet compounded.
CUTICURA REMEDIEN are sold throughout the world. Australian Depot: B. Towns & Co., Sydney. British Depot: 27-28, Charterhouse Hq., London. French Depott & Rue de la Falz, Paris. Potiza Duvo and Cox. Cozr., Bole Props, Boston. U, 8. A. " All about the kin," free,

In connection with the detention by the HONGKONG STEAM WATER BOAT
Afghan suthorities, on the 6th utt., of Lieut-
Colonel Yate, Commanding at Chaman, on the Afghan frontier, the Pioneer says: —
The incident must have taken place al- most under the eyes of Lord Kitchener, who was visiting the Khojak at the time, and this coincidence may possibly give the af- fair an oxaggeratel significance on each side of the border. Besides the Commander-in Chief, the Governor-General's Agent, brother of the détenn, and General Gasolce are now on the frontier, so that the fort erected by Abdur Rahman as the Jarcab of the British work protecting the railhead, is the focus of plenty of attention. There is, of course, no fear of any ill-usago of the prisoner, Colonel A. C. Yate is an officer who knows the Afglians as well as anybody,
having accompanied Sir West Ridgeway's party to the Boundary Demarcation of 1884 and remained with it throughout its long and eventful stay in the country. So

But considering the relations of amity sub- sisting between the two countries they appear to have exercised it with unreason- able stringency. Thus an incautious officer' on the ono side, and a surly or fanatical officer on the other, have produced & com- plication which, though probably momen- tary, puts the two countries in rather an equivocal light.
